Soil & Sky Mineral White, natural silicate wall paint

Natural Silicate Wall Paint

Mineral White

A mineral silicate paint for all, made a kinder way.

A breathable finish for any room, and ideal for damp and mould-prone ones.

  • Ultra low VOC
  • A+ indoor air
  • Solvent free

Mineral White dries to a deep, flat, stone-like matt, the quiet mineral depth you only get from silicate. It's tough and washable, and goes on beautifully over sound existing paintwork as well as bare plaster, right through the house. Silicate paint has an open, mineral structure, so moisture moves through rather than being trapped behind a plastic film, which is why it's the traditional choice for hardworking, damp-prone rooms.

Soil & Sky Quiet White, interior matt wall paint

Interior Matt Wall Paint

A flat, washable matt for everyday living spaces.

  • 99% natural
  • Ultra low VOC
  • A+ indoor air
  • Solvent free
  • High opacity
  • Breathable
  • Water based

Instead of the acrylic plastic that binds most emulsion, Quiet White is held together with a plant-based binder that starts life as linseed and safflower, crops grown and pressed rather than cracked from oil. The result is a soft, calm, harmonious matt, with the softness old distempers were loved for and the scrubbability they never had. 99% of what's in the tin is renewable or mineral, and every last ingredient is on the label.

  • 10 L covers 70–80 m² (7–8 m² per litre, per coat)
  • 99% renewable & mineral raw materials · solvent-free

Dry ready-mix lime mortar & resurfacing plaster

Natural Mineral Filler

A dry ready-mix lime mortar, made a kinder way.

For levelling and preparing interior walls before you decorate, in coats up to 10 mm.

  • Natural mineral
  • Cement free
  • Low VOC
  • Solvent free
  • Breathable
  • Low shrinkage

Natural Mineral Filler is bound with natural hydraulic lime instead of gypsum or cement, a breathable mineral binder that has smoothed walls for centuries. Unlike ordinary lime fillers it bonds to low-absorption surfaces, so it fills straight over sound painted walls as well as bare plaster, plasterboard and cement renders, with no stripping back needed. A fine, honest filler for levelling and preparing interior walls before you decorate.

  • Apply in coats up to 10 mm · conforms to BS EN 998-1
  • Cement-free natural hydraulic lime, no gypsum
  • Breathable and vapour-permeable, so walls keep breathing
  • Bonds over sound painted walls, plasterboard and cement renders
  • Low shrinkage, high elasticity
  • Mix ~0.2–0.24 L clean water per kg, whisk 4–5 min, use within 4 hours

Best for: Levelling and preparing interior walls and ceilings before decorating, over bare plaster, plasterboard, cement renders and sound painted walls. Make sure existing paint is sound, remove any flaking first, and test a small area.

Contains natural hydraulic lime. Danger: causes skin irritation and serious eye damage. Wear protective gloves and eye protection, and keep out of reach of children.

Good to know

Questions, answered

What's the difference between Mineral White and Quiet White?

Mineral White is a silicate (mineral) paint: preservative-free, extremely breathable, and the right choice for bathrooms, kitchens, cellars and older solid-walled homes. Quiet White is a plant-oil matt emulsion for bedrooms, living rooms, hallways and everywhere that stays dry. Damp or mould-prone room? Mineral White. Have an isothiazolinone allergy? Mineral White. Otherwise both give a beautiful natural matt.

Is this paint really natural?

Yes, and we show our working. Mineral White is over 96% natural raw materials; Quiet White is 99% renewable and mineral. We publish the full ingredient list on every tin and every product page, including the small synthetic parts, because a 'natural' paint that hides its recipe isn't one.

How many coats, and how much do I need?

Usually two coats. Measure your walls in m², subtract big windows and doors, divide by the coverage figure on each paint, then double it for two coats. Between sizes? Size up.

Is it low odour and safe around children and pets?

Very low odour: both are solvent-free with barely any VOC and carry the French A+ emissions rating. You may notice a mild natural scent from the raw materials while it dries. As with any paint, keep tins out of reach, and ventilate while painting and drying.

Where is it made, and are you the manufacturer?

Soil & Sky is a British brand. Our paints are made for us in Germany by a leading natural paint specialist. We're the brand and your UK supplier, and we publish exactly what's in every tin.

How do I order in the UK?

Soil & Sky is sold and shipped across the UK by our retail partner, Greenshop Paints, a natural and eco paint specialist based in the Cotswolds. Each paint's Buy button takes you straight to its page on the Greenshop Paints website, where you choose your size and check out. They handle dispatch and can advise on which white and size suit your project.
